Take it from a shopaholic, not all sales are good. I love experimenting and trying out the latest trends, but apparel can get expensive and break the bank before you know it. There are a few tips I use when shopping on a budget and getting the best deals:
Wait until the item goes on sale 💲– My #1 rule of thumb is to never purchase something at full price that has the potential to go on sale within the next month or two. Not only am I talking about markdowns in the store, but also discount codes given to lower the price of an item. Any way that an item can be purchased at a lower price is a sale, and you should always look for ways to prevent from paying full price.
Do your research 📱– Sometimes the same or similar items can be found on different sites, especially if they are on trend. Make sure you do your research before purchasing and item because you may be able to find it for a lower price. I like to use an app called Shoptagr to search through multiple sites at once and also sends me alerts when a price has been lowered.
Don’t get fooled by the “buy one, get one” deals ‼️- Companies have begun to heavily advertise “buy one, get one half off” or “buy one, get one free” promotions to make it seem like you are getting a great deal; however, that may not always be the case. I have found that it is usually a greater discount to purchase items at a percent off rather than buying one item at full price to get another one half off. For instance, a pair of dress pants that are buy one, get one half off that cost $80 would be about $120 for two pair, however, if the pants were 50% off each it would only be $80 for two pair. This is when doing your research on a company comes in very handy.
Sign up for the mailer list 📩– Companies will usually offer the option to sign up for their mailer list to receive access to upcoming sale information and coupon codes. Take advantage of the mailer list for the stores that you really like because this can save you a lot of money in the long run. They also may have reward programs that allow you to earn points toward even more discounts in the future.
Watch your favorite sites 💻– I usually shop at the same places online and in-store. After many years of purchasing from stores like Express, Fashion Nova, and Lola Shoetique, I know what the best sales are and when I can get the biggest savings. It takes time, but watching the types of sales your favorite stores have will give you the advantage of getting the biggest bang for your buck.
Utilize discount and coupon codes 💰– I try to find a discount or coupon code for every purchase that I make. Most stores offer codes for a percentage off your total, free shipping, or even a free gift. Why not capitalize on the amount of saving you can obtain and get more for your money?
I hope these tips help you find the best deals and save some moolah to put towards some upcoming trips ✈️. Happy shopping Roadies!
